THOMAS MOORE, Irish poet. Autograph letter signed, one page, 4to, Sloperton, 11 January 1833, with integral holograph address leaf (torn at removal of wax seal [no text disturbed]; portions of seal still present; usual postmarks). To Mrs. Houlton at Farleigh Castle, sending thanks on behalf of his wife, and relaying \". . . how truly delighted we feel at the prospect of happiness there is now opening upon you. She would have liked very much to have run over to you . . . but feared . . . that her visit, just then, might have been unseasonable; and I regret sincerely that our trip to Farley must be altogether postponed, as, having run out the whole tether of my idleness, I must now shut up & work for the remainder of the winter. Prey tell Captain Houlton how thankful I felt for his kind attention to my commission. We luckily made up, out of Fielding\'s shooting-wardrobe, better drapes than any theatre could have supplied us, & the whole thing went off most gaily & prosperously. We did so wish you among our audience. . . .\" Lightly toned at edges; minor creasing; else text very good to near fine.
