B388) Rare 1908 Hold To Light “A Merry Christmas” Cottages’Scene w 42+ “Lights & Silver Glitter Tinsel

This hand delivered rather than mailed rare card shows somewear on 3 corners as well as three places on the edges. There are over 436 places where light can shine through + silver glitter tinsel; several of theplaces have darker colored or patterned tissue paper on them:

1.) the largest house – note 1 place nearthe peak of the roof on the front side of the house; 2 places on the lowerroof; 4 windows on the side of the house; 14 windows on the front of the house;

2.) the smaller building to the front ofthe larger house – 2 windows on the front near the eves; 1 on the side of thehouse;

3.) 4 distant buildings – 1 red window; 1red window; 2 yellow;

4.) in “A Merry Christmas” – “A”,“Merry”, “C”;

5.) the path down from the buildings tothe meadow – 11 irregularly shaped spaces;

& the one I forgot, the moon.

II I cannot really comprehend how these were made – repeatedly.But I admire the skill, care, attention to detail, & beauty they exemplify. John Keats said it all, “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.”

P.P.S. I just looked at Cathy\'s picture with all the lights lit up & was surprised to see the greeting with every letter lit up. I checked the card again, & it seems to me those other letters are printed in green rather than being cut out. I\'ll get back to you tomorrow.
