This Cherry Red Vintage Bakelite extra long necklace is a great find. And you can wear it single-strand or double-strand.
I bought this years ago, from an antique dealer in Texas. It was her own personal possession, she had then sold it to me.
*** This necklace is 48 inches all the way around, thus 24 inches hanging down in front of you, that\'s if you simply wear it single strand ..... But because of the length, it\'s far more versatile than others ..... it also has 2 different shaped red beads, which makes it more unique and interesting.
*** The nice thing about this particular treasure, is that you can wear it several ways :
*** When I put it on, I sometimes wore it doubled around my neck if I wanted a shorter look to coordinate the shirt or dress that I was wearing it with. Other times, I\'d wear it very long. Another time I wore it so that one section was higher up on my neck, and the other hangs lower. There is no clasp to fumble with. Keenly versatile, depending on what you have on and what type of look you want.
It has been tested several times thru the years, with the simichrome test, which turns the pale pink simichrome paste into a light golden mustard color instead, confirming it is in fact Bakelite.
The beads are very unique on this beauty as well : These make the necklace more interesting looking ..... I loved that, and is one of the reasons I originally bought it. Not to mention all the ways it can be worn. It wasn\'t an average looking red bakelite necklace.*** Every two round beads, it\'s interspersed with an almost cube shaped bead but the cube shape has the corners off, if that makes sense. You should be able to see this, with all the photos I took.
As far as the bead size, I would say roughly 12mm on the smaller round beads, and roughly 16mm on the more unusual shaped beads. The design on this is excellent and sought-after due to the various lengths you can wear this, and the unusual shaped beads alternated with the round beads.
*** If you love unique and versatile, this would be a great choice. It\'s in beautiful vintage condition, there is no damage to the necklace such as chips or gouges. And the metal wire links in between the beads, are an old brassy color of metal. I would date it at around the 1940\'s or possibly 50\'s.
I\'m only selling this because I am going thru serious medical issues, and do not have the type of life that I had many years ago. So I\'m selling down all of my lovely things that I have left, thus cannot do any refunds, so please shop with care.
