Each spoon is 4.5 inches long by 3/4 of an inch wide. The roses are inrelief, and the modelling is simply superb. The underside of each spoon has the word \"Sterling\" engraved at the stem, along with the Hills Family\'s monogrammed \"H.\" (The hallmarks variously included \"Sterling\", the \"diamond-circle-diamond\"emblem of Schofield Sterling, and \"Balto Rose.\")
Frank Schofieldfounded the business in 1903. He was an expert die-cutter and personally cut all the dies for the Baltimore Rose series. (Stieff acquired the company in 1967.)
