This excellent condition, complete, antique book set has long been recognized for the great first-hand accounts from both the commanders and enlisted men of both armies in the Civil War. It is an extraordinary collection of battle accounts and constitutes one of the finest Civil War works available. The book includes the comments of important men and leaders on almost every major battle of the war; this tremendous series stands as one of the greatest collections of the Civil War. This is perhaps the finest gathering of Civil War visual material in any single source along with memoirs by high-ranking officers on both sides.

A detailed compendium of battle studies and reports, this work provided commanders the opportunity to present commentary or to clarify points on major battles with accounts set down on paper soon after the war and yet when enough time had passed for reflection.

The material provides several viewpoints, some conflicting, which give rich detail to the battles and campaigns and adds immeasurably to the value of the work.

THIS BOOK IS IN NEAR FINE CONDITION

This wonderful, antique, complete, four-volume book set in excellent overall condition. This is the original, antique set, professional rebound in blue covers with gold lettering on the spine. The set is clean, bright and soldily bound. The gold lettering remains bright. The exteriors of all the books are in excellent condition with no bumping or discernible edge wear, but has some rubbing. Volume III has some discoloration to the spine. The interiors are in excellent condition. The book set is free of any writing, smuding or foxing, except that there is a small, prior owner name and date at the top corner of the front, inside cover. There isn\'t a mark in them otherwise and the pages are in excellent condition. The books are free of any pasteboards, stamps or other markings and the set is not an ex-library set. The binding of all four books is solid; the books have no looseness or lean and all hinges are fine. The books are extensively illustrated thoughout. Each book measures 11 1/2 inches by 8 inches by 1 3/4 inches. Printed on high-quality paper, it\'s a heavy book set, but you\'ll only pay actual postage costs. The content is filled with nicely presented articles of first-hand experiences by key leaders in the war.
