Josiah Wedgwood’s famous Jasperware – unglazed stoneware, encircled by classical bas-relief motifs – is a familiar sight to us all
– the cheese keeper – a plate with a large covered dome, similar to a cake stand with cover, but narrower and higher, traditionally used to keep one’s Stilton fresh. They are not often seen and tend to be quite expensive, as one might expect from their rarity.Material: JASPERWARE DRAMATICALLY SCULPTED !! HAS SOME MINOR FLAWS BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THIS PRODUCT! THIS PIECE REALLY NEEDS A GREAT CLEANING, I DON\'T CLEAN ANY WEDGWOOD (WOULD NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO DO THAT) BUT I LIKE THE OLD LOOK TO IT. BUT DOES HAVE SOME STAINING I WOULD THINK THAT COULD NOT BE CLEANED BUT REALLY DON\'T KNOW.some brown discoloration and has some cracking in the white raised images, and some white raised is missing. please look at all pictures and ask questions if need to, but I don\'t think this would take away the uniqueness of this piece and the age. THIS PIECE IS ONLY MARKED WITH WEDGWOOD ON THE BOTTOM! AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THIS PIECE IT TRULY DATES BACK IN THE 1800\'S.
