DescriptionAbeautiful large,heavy Englishantique solid sterling silver cigaretteboxby MAPPIN & WEBB with its original undamaged cedar wood lined interior and with full English silver hallmarks forBirmingham 1936.Excellent quality sterling silver box, in lovely condition, handsome size, witha hinged silver lid and with an attractiveengine-turned engravedfinish.Hasa protruding silver edge lip on the front to assist opening and has its originalwood covering on the underside of the base. Fine heavy box, weighs approx.464 grams, including wood lining. No engraved presentation inscriptions.

Measurements Great size, measures approx 7inches (178mm) x3.5 inches (90mm) and is1.95 inches (49mm) deep.DateEnglishantique solid sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks forBirmingham 1936 (date letter \"M\"). Matching hallmark stamps on box and lid.Maker Silversmiths initials \"Mn & Wb\", (Mappin & Webb).ConditionLovely condition, no splits or cracks to the silver, no solder repairsandno nasty knocks ordents, just a couple of tiny little surface bruisesbut really nothingmuch at all.Some dis-colouring on the lid, probably lacquer. The hinged lid worksperfectly and the lid opens and closes tightly and the interiorwood liningis all original and inundamaged condition, no splits orcracks and still has the removablewood divider.Some loss of varnish on the wooden underside. Handsome largesize and an excellentheavy weight. No added engraved presentation inscriptions and nothing erased.
