Late Byzantine Period Silver GILT Jewelry Mount-Decoration.Fabulous design, elaborately and beautiful decorated surface. One red glassstone set on the top. There are two holes on the edge for attaching it to thedress. Exceptional specimen. More of thegold still remains on the surface. As found and still with somedepositsremainingon it. Circa 13th.- 14th. century A.D. Very RARE applique!!!

Here for sale is this Post Byzantine c.1400-1600 A.D. Low Grade Silver Alloy Pectoral Reliquary Cross Pendant constructed from a cast back platewith a covering front plate attached to each other with copper pins andadditional silver sheet between them, probably in purpose to safe the relicinside. The upper and lower surfaces are decorated with the Crucifix in amazingByzantine style. The cross has been used to carry organic material, probablywood, perhaps taken from some holy object such as a saint\'s personalpossession; the presence of a relic imbued the pendant with religious power. The cross isin *as found* condition and the relic could be still inside. Small part fromthe back plate and the loop is missing in time. It needs to be repaired if youintend to wear it.
