Description A beautifulgenuine antique Victorian solid silver chatelaine tape measurein excellent condition and dating from around 1890. Superb qualitycast silver measuring tape, decorated with flowers and scrolls and complete with its original pink silk tape. Has a wind in/out mechanismwith silver ball winder on the top and it still works perfectly.Hangs from its original silver linkchain with hallmarked silver bale ring. No added engraved monograms or initials.
Measurements Measures approx1 inches (26mm) in heightand is0.65 inches (16mm) in diameter, excluding link chain.
Date AntiqueVictorian solid silver, unmarked as these often are but fully tested and 100% guaranteed to be solid silver and a genuine antique 19th Century example dating from around 1890. The bale ring is hallmarked with a lion passant sterling silver stamp.
no splits or cracks to the silver, no solder repairs, and no nasty knocks or dents, a really beautiful example. The pink silk tape is original and in good condition, not torn or frayed, and all the markings are readable (first 1.25 inches is missing). The winding mechanism works perfectly, winding in and out smoothly. The attached silver link chain is undamaged.
