This listing is foralovely vintageS. Kirk & SonSterling Silverice tongs in the REPOUSSE pattern issued in 1828. These lovelyice tongs aredecorated with an elegant all-over chasedfloral design onhandle and stemin high relief.No monograms. Marked\"S. Kirk & Son Inc., Sterling\" on reverse stem.

Measures6 1/4\"long with theend being 1 1/2\"wide.Weighs60 grams.

Thetongs arein excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minor signs of normal wear.

The iconic \"Repousse\" pattern by S. Kirk & Son made its debut in 1828 making it the oldest Sterling Silver pattern produced in the United States where itsremained to this day as one of the most popular patterns ever created. To create this pattern, the Philadelphia trained silversmith Samuel Kirk revived an ancient technique known as \"repousse\" to create an embossed design that is both versatile and instantly recognized.
