GREAT Late 18th Century Wrought Iron Lighting Device/Utensil Rack This superb rack dates from the mid 18th to late 18th Century Circa 1760-1790. You\'ll note the curls and Iron work were done by the same blacksmiths that made \"betty lamp spikes\".This particular piece came from a personal collection of a long time New York dealer now going into retirement.The form has two \"Spike\" ends that would have had the piece hammered into a wall or beam of a home.The straight bottom bar of the piece would have been used to hold various curled end utensils and hooks from lighting devices.As you can see the magestic design face is done in a series of wonderful curled blacksmith work decorations each in the shape of upspringing curled designs.Please click on the images and you\'ll see the enlargements help to showcase the original design and decoration as well as the great period blacksmithing work.From age the piece does have pitting to the ironwork as one would expect.We have not touched this piece in any way. It comes in it\'s great original form and character.
Measures 14 1/2\" wide, each spike is about 5\" in length.This is a great opportunity to add a masterful example of period blacksmithing work to your collection, one that would look wonderful in a Colonial Decorum as a means to display period lighting devices and utensils.
