This is a wonderful, 9-foot long Garland of metallic tinsel from the amazing folk art studio of Bethany Lowe Designs and part of her Spring 2018 collection. The Garland is a fabulous shade of glittering ~Flea Market Blue.~ The color is a lovely, dusty pale blue ~ very Shabby Chic! It comes in a vintage patterned paper sleeve ~ ready for your holiday decorating and crafting.

This wonderful Garland looks and feels exactly like antique Lametta tinsel used to decorate German Feather Trees. It has the same gentle drape and soft, wispiness of wonderful old Victorian-era garland. When you see and feel this Garland you will almost think it came right from Grandmother\'s attic!

The Garland measures a generous 9-feet long and approximately ½-inch \"wide.\" It comes wrapped in a vintage patterned cardboard sleeve decorated with vintage lettering. This is one of two luscious new shades of Bethany\'s old-fashioned tinsel for spring. It is also available in ~Flea Market Pink.~ The colors remind me exactly of Jordan Almonds!

Tinsel is not just for Christmas anymore. This Garlands can be used in so many ways ~ let your imagination be your guide. It looks wonderful strung from a shelf or mantel or entwined in a wreath. Let it wander randomly among your other Easter decorations to \"tie\" together a holiday montage. Tinsel has a very long history as a holiday decoration:

\"Tinsel (Lametta) was probably invented in Germany in the early 1600\'s. The precise details about where and by whom are vague, but the original tinsel was made out of real silver with machines that pressed the silver into thin strips. Silver was durable, but it tarnished easily, especially with the smoke from the candles commonly used on Christmas trees in Germany. Later versions were also made out of pewter, a tin alloy. Das Lametta, the German name for tinsel, is a diminutive form of the Italian word lama, meaning blade. In the 1920\'s and \'30\'s, German Eis-Lametta (icicle tinsel) was a popular tree decoration.\"

However, my favorite folk tale about the origin of tinsel is from Eastern Europe. Legend has it that \"a poor woman with nothing to put on her children\'s tree woke on Christmas morning to find the branches covered with spider webs turned to silver by the rising sun.\" To this day, Ukrainian Christmas trees have a spider and web for good luck!
