For saleis a wonderful art nouveau bronze table lamp made by an unknown maker. I would could this my \"Snail\" lamp. The lamp measures 5\" tall to the top of the snail\'s body. The base is is kind of oval shaped and is 5\" wide outside snail body measurement.
The lamp depicts a Snail or Slug cast out of bronze and a beautiful french bronze patina. The body of the snail is outstanding. Not only does it resemble a real snails body in form but the pattern of Millefiori flowers intertwined with red vines set against a gold iridescent body is just splendid. You can see vivid reds, blues, golds and some greens.
This lamp with its art glass snail body shade is considered to be in excellent condition as there is no damage to the base as well as the shade. There is a tiny grinding nick on the inside flat rim and this is pictured and cannot be seen when mounted to the body. There is also a tiny sliver nicked along the bottom edge. This is very hard to see and can only be seen when held at an angle. Neither of these deter the value. The lamp is not signed and it is my belief these are of contemporary make from the late 1970\'s to late 1980\'s time frame. This would make it quite collectible as it already as it is more than 25 years old.The shade will be separated from the lamp when shipped. When you go to install the shade you will have to pinch the clips around the socket in so you can slide the body over the socket and make sure it sits just in front of the small screw thread. Then you gently release the spring so it locks the shade to the round body over the bulb. The clip pressure on the inside is how the shade is suppose to be installed. Do Not just lay the ball on top of the spring covering the socket. If you hit this you can knock off the shade and break it. These replacement shades are expensive and hard to find. This lamp has been rewired and tested and is ready for use.THIS LAMP HAS TO BE SHIPPED IN 2 SEPARATE BOXES INSIDE 1 LARGER BOX
