Volumes one and two of this extremely rare 4-Volume Set were published by the Century Co. in 1887, Volumes three and four in 1888. They were edited by Robert Underwood Johnson and Clarence Clough Buel. All are in reasonable shape for their age and weight. Their covers show expected age-wear, their spines are torn at their tops and bottoms and their gilt designs and lettering are moderately faded. The hinges in a couple are starting and their weight, about 5 1/2 lbs each, has created a slight bit of \"cocking.\" The covers of Volume 4 have been repaired with application of tape and the first two pages under the front cover of that volume are torn. Inside, the integrity of the pages of all four volumes is intact, 750, 760, 752, and 829 pages respectively; all are clean and free of markings. Please examine all photos. Each volume measures approximately 8\" x 11\" x 1 1/2\" and their combined weight is about 22 lbs. Their overall condition is Acceptable.
