DescriptionA beautifuldecorative Englishantiqueearly19th CenturyGeorgiansolid sterling silvervinaigrette box by the silversmith John Shaw- (1803-1825) andwith a full set ofEnglish silver hallmarksBirmingham 1812.Lovely qualitygenuine 205year oldsilver example, oval in shape with a hinged silver lid and decorated with attractiveperiodwriggle/prick-work engraving. Has 2 protruding silver thumb-nails at the front to assist lid opening and inside it has its original gilded interior and still has its original pierced and engraved hinged grill. There are no added personal engraved inscriptions or estate crests.

MeasurementsMeasures approx. 1.3 inches (33mm) x 0.85 inches (21mm)and is 0.4 inches (9mm) deep.

Superb clear hallmark stamps on box and lid and includes the Kings head duty stamp ofKing George III.MakerSilversmiths initials \"I S\", (John Shaw - 1803-1825), stamped on the box and the lid.ConditionGood condition, with no solder repairs and nonastyknocks or dents, just a few tiny little pin-head bruises and a couple of tiny little tight splits just on the lid edge, (nothing at all bad, all secure, see last photo).The lid hinge and grill hinge both work perfectly and interior gilding is original and is virtually 100% intact. The beautiful decorative pierced and engraved gilded grill is undamaged. Very nice example and withno added personal engraved inscriptions or crests.
