AKATAKSA RETURN POLICY

no longer allows us to automatically accept returns in exchange for merchandise. However, WE WILL CONTINUE TO ACCEPT RETURNS IN EXCHANGE FOR ITEMS IN OUR STORE INVENTORY [buyer pays return shipping within three days of receipt]. The new, mandatory 14-day return policy allows unscrupulous buyers the opportunity to peddle and abuse our material for two weeks and then return it for their money back. This policy will create a new wave of crooks that can easily create vast inventories with no investment risks save for the possible minimal cost of return shipping. In the meantime, we lose our packing and shipping expenses, we lose PayPal fees, we lose relisting fees, we lose potential clients, we lose weeks of exposure and we lose potential legitimate sales.

Ours is a small operation with over 17 years serving the indigenous peoples of South America by documenting their cultures and sharing that information with the world. We believe that we offer the best and most accurate descriptions in our field. At the moment, sales are our only source of income. There are five of us working full-time in our Bolivian office plus five indigenous field investigators. That’s 10 people trying to work and support families on what’s often less than $2000 a month, not including operating costs. In the office, each of us makes .72 to .86 cents U.S. per hour and we work 50 to 60-hour weeks. Our monthly sales are extremely important to us and we simply cannot afford to offer money-back returns. WE PROMISE TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO ASSURE THAT YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH YOUR PURCHASES.

AN AUTHENTIC FINE-SILVER ANDEAN INDIAN LIBATION CUP
FROM BOLIVIA

.

Inventory Number: TM10234
Country of Origin: Plurinational State of Bolivia.
Basic Description: An authentic indigenous Native American, hand-crafted ingot silver cup.
Native Name: Awarint q\'iru.
Region: Altiplano, Departments of Oruro/La Paz.
Language group: Aymara, Quechua and Uruqilla.
Approximate Age: Antique [over 50 years old], probably early-20th century.
Materials: Fine (.900 to .950) silver.
Approximate Size: 4 5/8 inches wide (handle to handle); the bowl is about 3 ½ inches in diameter; the height of the viscachas is 1 1/2 inches.
Colors: Silver. As in photos.
Condition: Excellent, a little worn and lightly tarnished from age. The bull is missing the lower part of a hind leg but was probably attached as such. The interior of the bowl has been partly polished and shows ingot hammering folds.

Remarks: This is an authentic and very nice fine-silver libation cup from the Bolivian altiplano, believed to be from the southern Province of Aroma near the Oruro border. This relatively large cup consists of a thick, hand-hammered ingot silver bowl with chased arced designs embellished with crude stamp work. There is a large silver bull that partly revolves in the center of the bowl. The bull is complete with a large, tapered chest, a long, large tail curving over his rump, ears, horns and facial features including eyes, nose and mouth. There are two flat handles in the form of viscachas [Chinchillidae family]. The bowl is fairly symmetrical – the rim wavers only slightly. The cup weighs 90.4 grams, Troy. All of the parts are constructed of fine-silver. This is an original antique ceremonial bowl for drinking and offering blessings with awarinti, or pure cane alcohol during indigenous ceremonies. It is an excellent example of these old cups that are now difficult to acquire.
