A beautiful large antique Victorian hand painted berlin woolwork chart of a wreath of roses.
The chart is marked \'Hertz & Wagener in Berlin\' and is numbered 6783 to the top right hand corner.
The chart is in excellent condition with no marks or folds.
The chart came to me as part of a collection from The Ladies Work Society which was set up in 1875 and was part of the Arts and Crafts movement that was emerging at the time. The patron of the ociety was Princess Beatrice (Queen Victoria\'s youngest child), who set the society up as a respectable means of employment for gentelewomen in distress who had needlework skills and education, but no other means of making a living. Embroidered clothing and textiles were commisioned through the society or sold at their Sloane Street premises. The level of discretion regarding the employed gentelewomen was so high, that their names are replaced by numbers in the accounts books in order to save any embarresment.

The measurements of the grid area of the chart are;
Width- 11.5 inches/ 29.25 cm
Length- 11.75 inches/ 29.5 cm.

My textiles are largely sourced from Scotland, bringing the very best of vintage and antique Scottish heritage textiles for you to enjoy and treasure.

I am happy to accept payment via Paypal, or by British Sterling cheque or Postal Orders.

All unpaid items will result in the item being relisted and an unpaid item case opened against the buyer.

I love to combine postage and I am happy to ship worldwide, offering both standard and signed for services.

Your order will be sent packaged with the utmost care using recyclable packaging where possible. I post items Monday to Friday and I try to post as much as possible the same day, but this is only a guaranteed service for purchases made before 12 pm GMT. I charge a small fee of £0.50 for packaging costs which is included in the postage price.

Any taxes incurred at customs are the responsibility of the buyer as are any extra insurances beyond that of the chosen courrier service. I will only write the true value of goods on customs slips.

Please note the date and cost of postage on the stamp and do not hold me responsible for any postal costs or delays that are due to Royal Mail and therefore outwith my control and not on my part.
