Beautiful large Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase from the 19th Century. The vase has one tiny approx. 1/8\" chip under the lip of the top of the vase and a tiny rough patch along asmall section of the top of the vase. There is some residue inside the top of the vase that looks likethe materialflorists use toarrange flowers. Otherwise, thevase is in excellent condition and the enamels are still in great condition. It is approx. 11 3/4\" tall and 5\" wide. It has a beautiful hand painted design in subtle colors of a geisha on the front and of flowers on the back. There is raised slip in places to provide additional interest and add to the design quality. A wonderful addition to a collection.
