Here\'s a very beautiful old violin in need of set up. The label reads: Vuillaume a Paris Rue Croix Des Petits Champs, 46. There is a picture of the tag. The violin has a lovely scroll has been traced in black around the edges. The purfling is narrow and very fine, it extends to the points with the \"beesting\" marks. The f holes have been delicately carved. There is finely done lining and blocking on the inside. Very high quality work. The soundpost is in place. The varnish is of a light golden brown color. The back is of two pieces and beautifully flamed. The upper bout measures 6 1/2\", the lower bout is 8 1/4\", the back is 14 1/8\", and the total length is about 23 1/2\". Comes with an old case and a bow. The bow will need new hair and there is a bit of the bone missing at the tip. I can barely make out a mark on the bow that looks to me to read Paris. It has a Parisian style eye on the frog. I I have pictures of the bow, so I can send pictures upon request. There is some old rosin in a box stamped \"Grinnell\". I\'ve seen a lot of Vuillaume copy violins that have a stamp on the back in the upper bout area. This is one of the nicest I\'ve seen, and it does not have the stamp on the back. Should be a fantastic instrument for the violinist when put back into playing shape. It looks to have been well loved an played over the years. Going to one lucky er with this sale.
