This is a beautiful cane yam mask collected off the Abelam People of the East Sepik of New Guinea in the late 1960\'s. It has an expressive face boldly painted with earth pigments. It is in good condition with only minor damage to the top of the back loop. These woven masks were a vital part of the yam harvest and worn sit atop the long yams. It measures 43cm in height.
