Beautiful Victorian Late 1800s Antique Yellow Gold and Silver Pique Shell Brooch:

Up for sale is an antique yellow gold and silver pique pin brooch measuring 1 1/2\" in diameter with convex crown standing about 1/4\" tall with flat back. It is fitted out on the reverse with a extra long hinged pin and curl wire c-clasp which closes and wears securely. The front side decoration is an asymmetrical mixed flower bouquet at center consisting of what looks to be like cabbage roses and morning glories along with tiny 5-petal star shaped flowers, tri-berry clusters and leaflets all in yellow gold; the curly tendrils are all silver as are the \'arched\' elements of the border -- the remainder which looks like a Fitzhugh pattern of alternating and repeating daggers and dots is in yellow gold. This piece weighs 9.23 g on a digital scale and I consider its condition: excellent without missing inlay and the pin, while sharp, has superficial bending and areas of slight cell corrosion. It was sourced second hand from a San Francisco vintagewares market beyond this I have no specific history on this particular piece.
