This is a charming highly collectable vintage Hannah Jones signature design \'Peony\' bedcover, woven at Penmachno Mill, North Wales during the 1920s.
This beautiful cover is made of high twist pure wool naturally dyed yarns which create a heavy and very durable double cloth. It isreversible and the various earthy colours of browns, pinks, blues and white appear to be fresh, bright and unfaded.
The main body of the cover is in excellent condition, however, after many years of use both warp ends are in need of some restoration and the hand stitched binding will need to be replaced. There is also a small \'nibble\' on one selvedge (please refer to the last pictures, if you need more just let me know). In order to preserve the integrity of the cover I have made no attempt to repair these faults and feel that they will be better carried out by someone more capable who has more knowledge of these wonderful old Welsh creations.
It measures approx. 224cm by 191cm (88\" by 75\") and it is in extremely clean with no marks or stains. ~ it is very heavy hence the expensive postage costs which will require a signature (no Post Office Box Numbers).
