Beautiful Antique Tea Tin with Ladies and Peacocks

This stunning antique tin was likely used for coffee or tea, as indicated by its shape and the hinged, knobbed lid. Lovely faded and muted artwork in warm tones – lots of gold, peach, faded red – which works beautifully with the complementary shades of green. The tin is decorated with two ladies, each in a garden setting, while the other two sides are decorated with the same peacock motif. Details are embossed. No branding. The tin looks to date to circa 1920, possibly earlier.

The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear, some scratches and scuffs, light handling marks and soiling, some minor dents and dings, etc. The black wooden knob perhaps is somewhat newer and may be a replacement. Noticeable wear on lid. Three sides of the base have noticeable clusters of wear. Some early rust on metal rim around bottom, and small areas starting here and there elsewhere. Less patina than expected inside, though there are some dark spots and early rust, particularly around the crevice. Bottom has some dings, scratches, and scuffs. Hinge is well attached and moves freely, and tin opens and closes fine.

Again, condition issues of note:

· Artwork has faded and muted.

· Noticeable wear on lid.

· Wooden knob appears to be a newer replacement.

· Noticeable clusters of wear on three sides of base.

· Some early rust on metal rims, some spots inside, here and there elsewhere.

Approximate size of tin is about 4” by 4” by about 7.25” tall, excluding knob on lid.

The tin is empty.
