A very fine hand decorated set of 12 Black, Starr & Frost
sterling silver dinner plates.
The firm traces its rots back to Savannah, Georgia
and Marquand & Pauling.
Relocated to New York and became
Black Starr & Frost in 1876, incorporated 1908
and acquired by Gorham in 1929.
In circular form with cast raised flower head and vine scroll rim.
Wide shelf border with hand decorated leaf and floral sprays
in exceptional relief above satin surface.
This is Black Starr & Frost\'s \"New York\" interpretation of
the popular Baltimore Rose design.
Engraved script possibly WSS (?) for the original owner.
Hallmarked as shown.
In very fine condition. Rich sterling patina.Original detail.Stand firm on table.Mild surface wear.
