This piece of desirable and collectible Blue Biggs jasper came from the later find near Rufus, Oregon. Not much of that type ever made it onto the market, and this polished display piece has a pattern of bold \"hills\" highlighted by watercolor brushstrokes in white, ochre and cobalt blue. The interesting rind has some areas of color, too. The slab has a few pinprick vugs and a short, shallow storage scratch, but neither affect the beauty of this strong example. The cream-colored rind is softer than the patterned section and does not take a high polish. The back is unpolished. This collector\'s display piece of Rufus Blue Biggs jasper is wonderfully detailed, and will be an eye-catcher in your collection. It is another piece of fine art that only nature could create!

Biggs is one of the most highly prized picture (also known as \"scenic\" or \"landscape\") jasper. Although it is sometimes confused with the nearby Deschutes jasper, Biggs usually has looser and more flowing patterns, a different color palette and is often less dense (not as much silica content) than Deschutes. The original find of Blue Biggs jasper was exhausted soon after its discovery after a flood around the Christmas of 1963. Other jaspers are still dug in the Biggs area. A second deposit of Biggs with blue was made near Rufus, Oregon, and although very nice, it has a different look than the original material. Both types are still highly sought after by collectors.

Shipping (Combined Shipping available)

  • Buy Now purchases must be paid for immediately and shipment is processed within 1 business day. I have no control over this policy and cannot hold Buy Now items. If you place multiple items into your Cart, you may be able to pay for them together. If you pay for multiple items together, you may contact me to ask the items to be combined into a single shipment. If it is possible to ship the items together and save you money on postage, I will adjust the postage charge upon request. If you have both Buy Now and sale items in your Cart, you may contact me to see if combining will save you postage (see below).
  • sale Wins can usually be combined into a single shipment at reduced postage costs. Some international destinations shipped to using \'s Global Shipping program are currently not able to be combined into a single package (please ask before offerding if the destination is outside the United States). If you are offerding on multiple items during a 7-day period, you may ask me for an invoice that reflects the combined shipment cost, which will almost always be less than shipping the items separately. Please wait until your last item has closed before paying, then request an invoice (on the payment screen, click \"Request amount\"). Because the items I sell vary widely in size, weight and fragility, some items may not be able to be shipped together, or may require a larger box. If you are offerding multiple bulky or fragile items, please provide me with your zip or postal code and ask me for an estimate of the cost.
  • Combining sale Wins with Buy Now items for items shipped to locations within the United States. If you pay for a Buy Now item at the same time as you pay for your sale wins using the Cart, your invoice may reflect even greater savings if all the items will fit into a single Flat Rate box. Use \'s Cart function to pay for the items at one time (or within a few minutes of each other). In order to do this, you may need to delay Buy Now purchases until after the sales you are offerding have closed.
  • We use Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes to save on shipping cost for all items because this service is both quicker and its cost averages close to that of slower methods once the costs of packaging, tracking and post office visits are Now purchases must be paid for immediately and shipping is processed in one business day. If you do not pay for your Buy Now item immediately, the item remains listed on and may be purchased by someone else before you have a chance to pay for it. I have no control over this, as this is how \'s system now works.
  • If you place multiple items into your Cart, you may be able to pay for them together. If you pay for multiple items together, or if you decide to take the risk that someone else will purchase your unpaid Buy Now item before your sale item ends, you may contact me to ask the items in your Cart be combined into one shipment (see above). If it is possible to save you money on postage by combining, I will adjust your invoice accordingly.
  • Payment on sales must be made within 14 days of the end of your first sale. If no payment is received, a non-paying buyer action will be filed. Any local tax is responsibility of buyer. International buyers may have Customs Duty due upon import. The purchase amount is listed on Customs Form. Shipment is made within 1 business days of cleared payment.
