Ruling from 618-907 the Tang Dynasty led China to a powerful & prosperous position in the ancient world. Under Tang rule, the Chinese enjoyed an age of military & economic expansion, as well as a golden age of art & literature. Horses were valued highly as symbols of elite status during this period. The upper classes enjoyed playing polo in their leisure time, & horses were a popular subject for artists, whose exquisite porcelain equine figurines were in great demand. These figurines were often placed in the tombs of royalty & aristocrats, a fact that attests to the horse's high importance in Tang culture. This model, created by Kathleen Moody, is a realistic replica of these treasured ancient equine sculptures.
All models come from a non-smoking home. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
