To complete the trifecta of posting Mardi Gras colors this week - I offer this one up from my personal collection of favorites! This small geode has brilliant, lustrous brown calcite crystals lining its cavity that are iridescent, reflecting hues of gold off of its crystal faces. Atop the brown is a later growth of water clear calcite, rhombic crystals. And - it has a tiny feature as well - a perfectly formed calcite \"pagoda\" where clear calcite crystals in parallel growth grew over a pink dogtooth calcite crystal. This absolutely excellent find is from a remote location in Brown County, Illinois.
