This sale is for the one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn, original comic artwork by the great George McManus for his Bringing Up Father daily of 11-20-36. It is a very funny gag, featuring main character, Jiggs, in all four panels. This strip also features McManus\'s iconic art deco stylings to the backgrounds. The entire art board measures 18 7/16\" w x 4 1/2\" h and the image area inside the borders is 17 13/16\" w x 4 1/16\" h. The medium is pen and ink on single-ply art board. The artwork is in excellent condition for being almost eighty years old. The art board is off-white color. The ink is still a rich and deep black. The artist\'s blue pencil indications for where the engraver should place the shading are still very visible. In a couple of places where the shading was, there is a slightly yellow hue visible. There is no creasing. The corners are near square. The top and bottom edges were slightly unevenly cut by the artist. There is no white out or razor etching. Judge the condition for yourself--the pictures above are high resolution color scans of the artwork. George McManus\'s Bringing Up Father is one of the most popular comic strips of all time (source Wikipedia). Examples of this strip done by McManus are sought after by collectors. I will combine sale wins on my other artwork sales that end the same day--to just pay one shipping charge. I am a serious comic art collector who is \"thinning the herd,\" as my collection has grown too large.
