It is hand dated\"5-15\". Distributed byUnited Feature Syndicateas per the copyright indicia. The paper dimensions are approximately 22.25\" wide by 6.25\" tall.

This dailylooks to be titled \"Run out powder\" in faint pencil above the art. The stripfeatures Gloria Dahl bailing on her counterfeiting comrades after meeting our hero Broncho Bill. It looks like getting a taste of Bill\'s clean living has soured her for continuing in a life of crime. She packs her things while the gang gets ready to fire up the printing press.You can\'t help but get the feelingthat her exit from the gang isnot going to go as smoothly as shehopes. Nice WWII referenceto gas ration coupons (which, at times during the war, were way more valuable than cash).
ARTIST andSTRIP Information:
Henry F. \"Harry\" O\'Neill(1894-1958) wasan Americanartist and illustrator best known forwriting and drawing Broncho Bill. There is a dearth ofinformation about him available anywhere. Hisinking style has been described assomewhat loose, though it usually includessome nice detailingand shading. His pen workis sometimes reminiscent of the illustrative style of Raeburn Van Buren (Abbie \'n Slats) and his brush workoccasionally has an early Alex Raymond feel to it.
BRONCHO BILLwas an Americancomic strip which ran from 1927 through 1950.Created by Harry O\'Neill, the strip was originally titled \"Young Buffalo Bill\" and \"Buckaroo Bill\" before settling on \"Broncho Bill\". One of the earliest western adventure strips, Broncho Billfeatured western scenes and vistas but usually avoided reference to any particular time period.For somestorylines, the strip appeared to beset in the 1890s-1900s. For others, the setting was definitely more current (1930s-1940s).The star of the strip wasa young western adventurer,Broncho Bill, and, later,his gang, The Boy Rangers. Bill, though looking rather young, served a term asa sheriff before putting together The Boy Rangers (who were once describedas a gang of \"blood thirsty boy scouts\"). Bill and hiscrew had a variety of adventures battling Indians, cattle rustlers, other criminals and rescuing those (including each other) who got themselves intodire peril.Classic western style adventures. Bill was featured in a Big Little Book and hiscomic strips were later colored and reprinted in Sparkler and Tip Top comic books.
Condition: This art is in overall excellentcondition on drawing paper.Minor spots, smudges to paper.There are no stats,paste-overs,white out or other corrections (excepting only the date).Full margins all around.Minor edge/corner wear.
