Reportedly, this scene was first created by the Edvard Munch in Norway as a woodcut titled \"The Kiss\" (1902). Subsequently, Austrian artist Gustav Kindt painted a scene titled \"The Kiss\" in 1908.Although the artistic depictions are not always identical, various artists or foundries have recreated this scene with similar likeness, including Pompeian Bronze and Armor Bronze.\" ~ L. Kuritzky. In excellent condition, paint/finish is very good. Approx 6 3/4\" in height and approx 5 lb together.
These are bronze clad. These antique bookends were made using the much coveted and highly collectible bronze-clad method of production which utilized electricity via an electrode built into the plaster mold of the subject piece. Bronze was then electroformed onto the plaster mold. This was extremely innovative in the 1920\'s. Unfortunately, it was also very costly for labor and materials. Some bookends could take as long as three days to be completed.
