Fabulous,way ahead ofit\'s time,and very rare set of 6 dining chairs, dining table with 2 leaves, and bar cabinet for California’s Brown Saltman designed by Martin Borensteinwithin his Variations collection fromthe mid fifties.These are the pinnacle of California modern from that period. The chairs have a wonderful look that brings to mind the Red Blue Chair by Gerrit Reitveld that can be found in the MOMA and is a design icon. These however, are quite a bit more comfortable and functional. The set consists of the DINING TABLE, BAR CABINET,2 CAPTAINS CHAIRS - ARM CHAIRS & 4 SIDE CHAIRS.

The chairs are walnut with pivoting backrests. There are no labels on the chairs. Note however, thatthese chairswere part of adining set which includesa sideboard (labelled)- all of which are pictured, in one variation or another, in BrownSaltman advertisements from that time. They are unequivocally Brown Saltman chairs.If you don\'t knowhow unusual and rare these pieces are,simply do a search for Martin Borenstein - Variation- Brown Saltman.
