Ernie Bushmiller\'sNANCY & Sluggo\"Clean House\"LARGE ORIGINAL ART ErnieBushmiller.Sunday funnies with Nancy and Sluggo. This was originally published on Sunday, May 22, either 1960 (or1966). The same original art was chosen for reprinting on Sunday, April 10, 1977.A great strip showing some unedited shots from the Architectural Digest spread on Sluggo\'s abode.
The original copyright is partially gone leaving the exact year of this strip up for determination. It could be 1955, but the characters look too clean and modern. It could be 1960, based on Sluggo\'s hat in the 3rd panel and the fact that Nancy\'s hair has been trimmed to look more contemporary (to 1977).But generally, Bushmiller picked strips approximately 10 years older from when he was resubmitting them, and based on that I suspect the date was 1966.
Although not signed, the fact that Bushmiller picked this for reprinting leads me to think this is his, and not an assistant\'s work.
Originally printed May 22, 1966.Bushmiller pulled this strip from his files and covered the original date and copyright, and submitted the original art for a second publication.NOTES: Bushmiller stored strips stacked, and left cellophane tape on the back, which transferred as a stain to the front of the strip below it. When submitting this strip for it\'s second publication, the stains were covered with white paint. These \"adjustments\" are mostly on the right side, 1/4 of the strip. They are slightly more visible in the second panel. The corrections include Nancy\'s face in the 4th panel. Please see scans.A Great Sunday!
CONDITION: EXTREMELY GOOD. There is a cream color to the bristol. Some tanning to the pasted-on title. To reprint this strip Bushmiller had to update Nancy\'s look. (Sluggo\'s hat and Nancy\'s hair got smaller over the years) Sluggo\'s hat is slightly large in the 3rd panel, but it\'s not too noticeable, with the figure of Sluggo being so small. But Nancy\'s hair has been corrected in all panels (except the small image in the last panel). There is white paint around the edges of Nancy\'s hair with the little \"bumps\" drawn in ink over the paint. Please see notes above.

SIZE:Overall approx:24\" x 17\" Image approx: 22.75\" x 15.25\"
