Wonderful c.1890 cabinet photograph of \"Old Crow\" an Indian Warrior who was reported to have served as bodyguard to Hunkpapa Lakota Holy Man and Leader, Sitting Bull. The photographer was D. F. Barry (David Francis).... Nicknamed \"Little Shadow Catcher\" by the Lakota Indians, Barry was born in upstate New York in 1854. His family moved to Wisconsin when he was a child. He became interested in photography as a young man and after several apprentice positions devoted his time in Montana and the Dakota\'s photographing prominent Native American men and women, scouts, soldiers, Wild West personalities and members of the Crow and Lakota nations. He opened his studio in Superior, Wisconsin in 1890, from where this photograph was published, and remained there until his death in 1934. Barry\'s important work is highly sought and can be found in some of the most prestigious museums and private collections in the world.

I\'ve been a collector of photographs, important documents and publications related to Native American history for over 35 years. I am not a commercial dealer. My collection mainly covers the period from early 1700\'s to 1930. The images (all original) are of various sizes and have been safely stored in archival museum boxes in a climate controlled setting.
