What a great looking piece. Oceanic art , I am thinking from my research this is Maori, of Pataka Tutangimamae , or Polynesian, and a either door jam or for a boat , correct me if I am wrong. As you can see , it is carved on both sides. The guy in the middle right , on the one side you cannot see his head, and on the other side he looks a bitscared ( oh mouthexpression). , while his friends are having a good old time. (super-size to see well). Charming and whimsical. It is 38\" wide and 10\" tall, and 1\" thick. It is old but I do not know how old. Sure to be 100+ years old. Found in Texas where an elderly man was selling items from cleaning out his barn and antiques shop. He could not tell us much about it. Love this piece. Hope you will too.
