A prize binding copy of the works of William Wordsworth.

Bound for Wakefield Girls\' High School. The school was first established in 1878 in Wentworth House.

To the preface there is a memoir of Wordsworth\'s life.

No date to title page, dated from Copac.

The preface states that this edition comprises \'all the poet\'s best and finest poems (with his latest corrections) and is indeed complete with the exception of \'The Prelude\' his last work which was published after his death and is not generally considered equal to his former poems\'.

Wordsworth was a major Romantic English poet who in fact launched the Romantic Age in English literature alongside his co-writer and friend, Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

CONDITION

In a full calf prize binding with gilt stamping to board edges and spine. Externally, generally smart with rubbing to the spine, joints and extremities. Rubbing to spine is particularly heavy to the head and tail as well as to the raised bands. Prize bookplate from Wakefield Girl\'s High School dated 1910 to front pastedown. Internally,firmly bound. Pages areslightly age toned to edges and clean throughout. Overall: GOOD.
