c1901 ROYAL DOULTON GIBSON GIRL PLATE \"Miss Babbles\" on BLUE CYPRUS PATTERN #1
This antique plate from the Gibson Girl series, was manufactured by Royal Doulton of England around 1901. It has an illustrated plate featuring a Gibson Girl set against the \"Cyprus\" pattern in blue and white. A Gibson Girl typified the fashionable ideal of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.This illustration has a caption that reads, \"Miss Babbles brings a copy of a morning paper and expresses her indignation and sympathy over a scurrilous article. Meanwhile other friends are calling upon the editor\".
The plate measures 10-3/8\" in diameter.
There is a 3/8\" chip on the back rim. It cannot be seen from the front side. There is no crazing to the glaze, but there are scratches from use/ storage.
