This porcelain saucer , is from the famous Ca Mau cargo , and bears the Sothebys sale number and the Vietnamese authorities cataloging numbers , on the base . It is handpainted with the passing boats 2 pattern and has a Batavian brown , on the back edge . It measures 4\" in diameter . There is a fine crack on the edge , of about 7/8\" in length and some chips to the foootrim from when it was made . The wreck sank in 1725 , and was on route from Canton to the Dutch trading port of Batavia . Disaster struck off the north coast of the Ca Mau peninsular , there was a fire on board caused the ocean going junk to sink . 76,000 of the better pieces , were sold by Sothebys , in Amsterdam , in 2007.
