Greetings. Offered for sale is the original art for the daily comic strip “CAROL DAY” drawn by David Wright.


This daily comic strip panel waspublished on or about June1, 1964 in the UK Daily Mail. The art boardmeasures approximately 8” tall by 19” wide. It is not signed ordated.


This is the original art (renderedin pen and ink and blue pencil) for this Carol Day comic strip, drawn by David Wright.


This daily is untitled, butnumbered “2395”. It is adaily from the“GERALD WAIN”story line (the 26th Carol Day story arc). The stripfeatures Carol Day, Joe Wilson, Gerald Wain and Eric Bahrein a somewhat tenseand testy conversation. Carol and Joe have reluctantly followed Gerald Wain as he launches hisplot to prove that Sir Eric Bahre will go to any length to recover certain letters (they hope to catch him burgling/trespassing on the boat).Wonderful line work and cross-hatching by a master of the artform. A beautifully rendered strip, featuring someniceimagesof the shadows of the night (the image of the boat at dockside is simply breathtaking),and someratherunhappylooking characters,all by a supremelytalented cartoonist.

CAROL DAY was a Britishcomic strip which ran from 1956 through 1967 in the UK’s Daily Mail. Carolwas a beautiful young woman who worked as a glamorous fashion model. Thecast which surrounded her came mainly from her love life, her work, family andthe village where her Uncle Marcus Axel lived.


David Wright (1912-1967) wasa British artist and cartoonist who is most famous for his illustrations ofbeautiful women and his CAROL DAY comic strip.


Condition: The art isin “excellent” condition on CS2 Fashion Board.Minor handling wear. Nostats or paste overs. Word balloon contents are paste ups as is the title and artist name. No white out corrections. NoZip-a-tone. Rogers &Co. Artists\' Agents sticker on reverse. Owned by an adult collector in asmoke free home.
