CASED PAIR LOEWE & Co ANTIQUE PIPES HAYMARKET HALLMARKED SILVER COLLAR:
$149.41

A pair of antique cased pocket pipes by Loewe & Co.
A Frenchman Emil Loewe founded the company in 1856 at the Haymarket 62, London.
He is said to have been the first to make briar pipes in England.
The silver collar is hallmarked with RD (Robert Victor Dumenil) into a chamfered rectangle, 1906 London (lion: leopard).
Robert Victor Dumenil, was a French born pipe mounter working from 1895.
The pipes are set in a made-to-measure leather and velvet case with Loewe & Co logo and address on the inside of the lid.
The case measures approximately 12.5cm x 6.2cm x 3.5cm (at the deepest part).
The case has age related wear and tear: the catch works, but releases easily due to use:
logo inside lid rubbed – please see all the images.
The pipes have both been smoked; some wear to the rims of the bowls:and one is missing the mouth piece.
It is likely that the missing mouth piece was made of amber;
the tenon can be removed and a new mouth piece fitted.
