CASED SET of 6 ANTIQUE ENGLISH GILT ESSEX CRYSTAL RACE HORSE BUTTONS STUDS c1890:

A terrific antique English set of six button or studs; made from gilt metal and set with wonderful Essex crystal-type intaglio molded and reverse-painted glass cabochons depicting the heads of racehorses. Complete with their original gilt clips and high quality fitted box.They date fromthe latter half of the nineteenth centuryand are inexcellent, fully wearablecondition throughout, with no loss or damage. The box is in good condition with working hinge & closure, but a few marks and lifting of the outer covering. They weigh 11.9grams in total unboxed and measure half an inch in diameter. The final photo shows them with a US penny (1 cent) coinfor scale, which measures19mm/ ¾ of an inchdiameter.
