CEREMONIAL INLAY AXE OF KING AHMOSE 18th DYNASTY, CAIRO EGYPT, EGYPTIAN DISPLAY:
$124.99

This axe was executed to commemorate the liberation of Egypt from the Hyksos. The blade together with a cedar wood handle. The inlaid decoration of the axe is divided on each side into three compartments, all decorated with motifs alluding to the expulsion of the Hyksos and the re-unification of the country by Ahmose. The one side is the royal cartouche, a scene depicting the king killing an Asiatic enemy and a representation of the king as a griffin symbolizing the war god Montu.

This is a great replica display piece, wood handle has some nicks and chips(see pics) and the blade on one side has some pealing on the blade(see pics) but overall great shape and a rare piece.

Please inspect pictures carefully as they are part of the description and ask questions prior to offerding, thank you and good luck!!
