Lovely antique vintage Chinese Export Silver Gilt Cloissone Figural Bird Brooch or Pin. The bird is Chinese Silver which appears to have a gilt wash on the silver mesh. (I attempted to clean this mesh but the gold color remained). Beautifully executed cloissone enamel is hand painted on the top of his head, and his feathers. He is perched on a branch with 3 cloissone enamel blue flowers. The brooch is hallmarked Silver. Based on the information below I believe the pin dates to between 1890 and 1920.

Around 1890, the hallmarks on sterling imports out of Hong Kong seems to have changed to the word \"silver\" stamped onto sterling pieces. Then around 1920 China\'s sterling export hallmarks again changed to either \"Sterling\" or the modern 925 mark.

The pin measures 2.5\" and is in very good condition. Slight bend to pin stem which does not interfere with functionality and is common for these older pins.
