Multi-Colored Glazed With Extremely Fine Detail Of Both Facial Features And European Dress. Possibly Dutch, English Or Swedish Traders. These Possibly Were Used On Top Of A Piece Of Furniture. The Holes In The Bottoms Of Each Figure May Have Been Used Not Only For Mounting, But Additionally To Escape Heat When Fired In The Kiln. In My Experience Of 44 Years In This Business, Traveling Extensively Worldwide, I Have Never Seen Any Other Examples That Come Close To These. An engraving by Nocolas and Robert Bonnant, illustrated by Howard and Ayers, op. cit., pl. 601C, p. 581, approximates closely the dress of the current example but with a reversed pose.
