The information provided with this item states it is an artillery limber hook found at the location of Wheeler\'s Raid in the Sequatchie Valley Tennessee near Jasper, Tennessee. Information also states items have been treated and preserved. An internet search revealed Confederate Joseph Wheeler attacked roughly 1,000 Union wagons loaded with supplies bound for Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Confederate Cavalry burned or destroyed the wagons and killed almost all the mules and horses of the wagon train by saber and bayonet. Over 8,000 animals are thought to have been killed during this raid! Some of the soldiers said, long after the war, that the events of that day were the most haunting of the entire war. That had to be one H_ll of a bad day!!! Imagine if this artifact could talk to you! We also have other books and related items up for sale from a large private collection we purchased. Please take some time to check them out as well to see what finds we came up with.
