A fine early vintageand genuine.

Delicate letter while at home, March 20, 1862., the iron gall ink used has eaten through the thinish paper stock he used., the cover is not complete but still gives a good amount of information for research.

He writes to a friend, and they both seem to be officers in the Confederate army...talks of the disturbing news from Newbern, hears of the wounded and sorry for that...do you know of the fate of the Captain and the Lt? Seems to be a good letter, he slants his words and it takes a while to get used to his writing., the cover asks the Postmaster to hand this to his friend named Lt. William H. Sanford, at Statesville, N. C.

No odors, some acid free acid free repairs on reverse,. delicate letter due to the thin paper stock and the iron gall ink used.
