A fine early vintageand genuine Civil War soldier letter from the Quartermaster Department, Army of the Mississippi, at Jackson, Mississippi. August 20, 1861. 8 x 11" on thinish paper, being a "pressed" letter. The writer pressed down hard on the ink and made this letter. There was no carbon paper invented yet. ] Very scarce early letter about getting donated blankets for the army...telling the Colonel who is in Raleigh, Mississippi to take as many blankets as he can get and give out promissory notes that will be paid upon receipt. [ Needs research ], no defects, easy to read.
