The Roll of Honor was established in early 1863 by General WS Rosecrans to recognize outstanding soldiers nominated by their officers and serve as an elite mobile force armed with repeating Sharps or Henry Rifles for the Tennessee campaigns. An original undated, early 1863 era ink manuscript Roll of Honor\" naming approx 75 officers & men of the 9th Kentucky Infantry as awardees. 4pp ink, 8 x 12\", signed by Colonel George H Cram as unit commander. Comes w service info- Colonel Cram was brevetted brigadier general for service. The 9th, from Columbia, KY was a notable combat unit incl the 1863 battles of Murfreesboro to Chickamauga and Chattannoga. Edge wear, age spots, Overall VG.
