Baker commanded the 10thMinnesota in the campaign against the Sioux Indians, and in the fall of 1863 heled his regiment to the Southern states. He was also MN Secretary of State,Surveyor General, and in 1881, he was elected State Railway Commissioner. Baker was one of the incorporators of theAmerican Red Cross!
