An original Civil War letter to Private Amaziah J Foss, 13th New Hampshire Infantry from his brother Edwin, at Strafford, NH, Mon 15, 1862- Lots of illness in the Old Granite State but we \"are still kicking\", the Governor has issued a Thanksgiving Proclamation for the 27th of this Month, the 15th & 16th New Hampshire Volunteers are still in camp at Concord and will join General Banks Division, asks if he or Lemuel know what Company of the 2nd NHV George Ayers is in and hears that Moses John is very sick from yellow fever at Beaufort, SC. 3pp ink, 8 x 5\" VG. Comes w service info- Amaziah & Lemuel enlisted, fought at Fredericksburg, and Amazah was killed in action at the Battle of Providence Church, Virginia.
