This is an original letter from the Civil war time

It was written by a retired Union Army Officer to his fiance.

The letter was posted in Philadelphia July 31st 1864.

The ink is faded and do to the cross writing is difficult to read.

The letter has the normal folding and its a little tear for folding.

There is a brown stain.
